The Birth of the Pearl Necklace

According to ancient history records, the first pearl necklace was found in a Persian city in 1901. It is believed to be the oldest pearl necklace in history. The pearl necklace was discovered in a queen's tomb of that ancient city. Records state that the necklace is said to be over three thousand years old. This just shows that pearls are really one of the oldest gems recorded in our history. Even the queens way way back thousands and thousands of years ago were captivated with the beauty and charm of pearls.
Pearls are not only popular in Persia, where the oldest pearl necklace was discovered. For example, In Rome pearls are looked upon as a status symbol. Only the aristocrats and the members of the upper crust of the society could wear one. In Greece on the other hand, pearls symbolize marriage and love. This is probably why a lot of brides pick pearls to be their accessory on their wedding day.
During the onset of the pearl culture industry, the price of pearls became more affordable and it became more available to other classes. It was also no longer exclusive for the royalties, aristocrats, and wealthy women. Pearl culturization also brought in more pearl types so it paved the way for more pearl options. The popularity of pearls is still going strong just like its popularity more than three thousand years ago. And as I see it, it barely shows no signs of waning. This just shows that pearls are here to stay and will still be the queen of all gems until the end of time.
